Rendering Digital Procreate Portraits with Efé
Welcome beautiful person! Work with me as I go through my digital portrait rendering process on Procreate.
This fully narrated drawing demo class is broken up into 8 chapters with 21 videos in total. As someone with an extensive traditional art background, I know how intimidating digital drawing can be. I’m a firm believer though that anyone can draw digitally!
Feeling stuck after the sketch?
As I always like to say, rendering is where the magic happens, but it can also make or break your original drawing. I mean, who wants to spend all that time building a sketch just to rage quit while colouring? I know I have...too many times.
You could be having trouble choosing your base colours or perhaps blending presents a challenge. You might not even know where to start.
It doesn't have to be this way though! You can approach every digital portrait with confidence, and with this step by step guide, I hope to alleviate any uneasiness and get you ready to create 💫

Hey, it's Efé 👋
Your instructor + new art buddy
@Hoorayitsefe
I've always found human likeness to be so strange yet captivating. I think that's why I enjoy portraiture as much as I do! Whether I'm painting or drawing or sculpting, all roads lead back to faces.
I was actually very stubborn about starting digital art. Since I had such strong identity in my traditional work, I worried that introducing digital pieces will water down my years of pencil dedication and ultimately my joy (dramatic, I know).
That was until my mother convinced me otherwise a few ago. I will forever be grateful that she was a tad bit more stubborn than I.
It was frustrating at first, I can't lie. But after much practice, I discovered that both digital and traditional art media have space in my heart and I'm determined to share this love with you all.
We'll go through...
Picking midtones
Building a solid base to be prepared for more detailed rendering work
Light and shadow
Establishing form through value, adding basic highlights and shadows
Detailed rendering
How I flesh out and render each feature and component of the portrait
Final adjustments
Checking proportions, values, and other things I routinely do to finalize a piece
+ more within 8 modules ✨
